CITY OF PAGE PROVIDES CONTEXT ON DATA CENTER FEASIBILITY PROCESS AND PUBLIC RECORDS

PAGE AZ – The City of Page is aware of recent discussion following the release of public records, including staff emails, related to a proposed data center project. The City appreciates the level of community interest and engagement and recognizes that the information shared has raised questions about how the project has progressed to date.

As with many large-scale economic development proposals, early conversations between the City and a prospective developer included the use of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). However, the NDA is subject to the Arizona Public Records laws, and therefore does not protect any information from the developer unless otherwise already protected by Arizona law. The emails released as part of the public records request reflect early discussions and estimates that are subject to change as the project advances, not information that was protected under the NDA.

Early discussions also included exploratory concepts related to housing needs associated with the project. While some early ideas were discussed in emails, those concepts did not move forward in that form. As reflected in Ordinance 744-25, the developer is required to complete a housing study to evaluate potential workforce housing needs. Any future consideration of a housing component would depend on the results of that study and would occur through a separate public process.

As the feasibility period continues, the City anticipates additional opportunities for public input, including during the required re-zone process. Information about next steps and timelines will be shared after the holidays.

The City of Page remains committed to transparency, accuracy, and adherence to state law. Residents are encouraged to rely on City-issued communications and public meeting materials for official updates.
