City of Page Launches “Mother Road to the Wonder Road” Mobile Passport Experience

Page, Ariz. (March 31, 2026) — The City of Page announces the launch of the Mother Road to the Wonder Road, a free, gamified mobile passport experience created to commemorate the Route 66 Centennial and in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary. The program encourages travelers to expand their Route 66 journey and explore the places and communities found along the U.S. 89 corridor.

Beginning near the junction of Route 66 and U.S. 89 in Flagstaff, the experience pass guides travelers north through a curated series of stops featuring historic roadside locations, Indigenous culture, trading posts, scenic viewpoints, and notable engineering landmarks. U.S. 89, established in 1927 just one year after Route 66, serves as a natural side journey to complement the Route 66 experience, often referred to as the “Wonder Road” for the remarkable landscapes and destinations found along its broader corridor.

Participants can check in at featured destinations using their mobile device to earn points redeemable for prizes. Participation also includes entry into a raffle for a chance to win a kayak, along with additional incentives such as a commemorative sticker pack.

Each stop within the mobile passport includes optional audio narration, creating a cohesive, story-driven experience. The narration provides context to the landscapes and communities along the route, allowing travelers to engage more deeply as they explore.

“With many travelers returning to Route 66 for the Centennial, this nearby historic corridor serves as a natural extension of that journey and is an experience that should not be missed as part of it,” said Adam Geller, Public Information Officer for the City of Page. “Just two hours north of Flagstaff, visitors can experience iconic destinations including Horseshoe Bend and Glen Canyon Dam. While this route may not carry the Route 66 designation, it reflects the same spirit of exploration, discovery, and connection to place that defines the Route 66 story, including the Indigenous experiences that have long been part of travel through this region.”

Along the route, travelers encounter historic bridges, remnants of long-forgotten alignments, and notable overlooks including the Little Colorado River Gorge, Horseshoe Bend, and the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge, all of which reflect the scale, history, and engineering that define this corridor.

The Mother Road to the Wonder Road is available at no cost and delivered instantly via text or email, with no app required. The mobile passport is accessible in multiple languages, supporting both domestic and international travelers. Participants may explore at their own pace and visit as many or as few locations as they choose.

The program is part of a broader effort to extend visitor stays, encourage regional travel, and strengthen connections between communities throughout northern Arizona during the Route 66 Centennial, America 250, and beyond.

The digital passport is available beginning March 31, 2026. For more information and to access the experience, please visit the link below:
