City of Page Invites Community to Participate in Shoreline Sweep for National Public Lands Day
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, in partnership with the City of Page and Glen Canyon Conservancy, invites residents and visitors to participate during the Shoreline Sweep for National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
Volunteers are encouraged to join the Shoreline Sweep for National Public Lands Day, a community-wide effort to remove litter and debris from the Lake Powell shoreline while celebrating the shared commitment to protect public lands.
Participants should meet organizers at 9:00 am at the Wahweap Main Ramp, just past Lake Powell Resort at 100 Lakeshore Drive, Page, AZ, 86040. Limited parking is available near the boat ramp, with additional parking located at the top of the ramp. Park entrance fees will be waived in honor of National Public Lands Day. No registration is required.
“As Lake Powell lowers, yesterday’s lost treasures become today’s trash. We hope the community can help us clean up what the lake reveals,” said Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Chief of Facility, Adam Rymer.
The cleanup area extends between Wahweap Main Ramp and Swim Beach and includes natural terrain with deep sand and uneven surfaces. Volunteers are encouraged to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and come prepared for the weather with sun protection, including sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat. Organizers will provide trash bags, nitrile gloves, snacks, water, and event swag while supplies last.

Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday of September, National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands. Led nationally by the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) in partnership with National Park
Service, the event brings together tens of thousands of volunteers to restore trails, clean up waterways, remove invasive species, and free entrance is granted at participating federal sites.
